Overview:
NCBI bioinformatics minicourses are either problem-based (such as "Identification of Disease Genes"), or NCBI-resource based (such as "MapViewer Quick Start"). Each course is 2.5 hours in length. The first hour and a half is devoted to an overview lecture, that is followed by a one hour hands-on session.
Although, primarily given on the NIH campus, NCBI occasionally offers the minicourses at extramural institutions as well. We are fortunate to be hosting the following 4 minicourses:
"Making Sense of DNA and Protein Sequences"
"MapViewer QuickStart"
"Identification of Disease Genes"
"Correlating Disease Genes and Phenotypes"
Intended Audience:
These courses are aimed at principal investigators, postdoctoral fellows, graduate and advanced undergraduate students and others in the life sciences who work with biological sequence data.
Handouts:
"Making Sense of DNA and Protein Sequences"
"MapViewer QuickStart"
"Identification of Disease Genes"
"Correlating Disease Genes and Phenotypes"
